Kanavel's Signs

Q: What are the Kanavel's Four Cardinal Signs?

A: They are used to diagnose Infectious Tenosynovitis.
  1. Pain: Intense pain, especially on attempted extension
  2. Posture: Flexion posture for comfort
  3. Percussion tenderness along tendon sheath course
  4. Uniform swelling of the "entire" finger
Except for flexion posture, the rest of the three could not be seen in local inflammation.
