NO Recent trauma/surgery (defined as intubated surgery the past 4 weeks)
NO Clinical signs of DVT (unilateral leg swelling, hold over the heel and check asymmetry on calf)
NO Hemoptysis

PERC (-) + Gestalt less than 15% = PE ruled out

if none is present, pretest probability is less than 2%;
and the patient will not benefit from (further) evaluation for PE
